An unusual, early nineteenth century powder flask dating from c.1820. This piece is made from a gourd this can be seen in the form on the end of the flask. The screw fittings, to the opposite end, are made from boxwood and they have inlaid bands of ebony decoration. This is a charming piece, with a wonderful patina, and it would have been used fro carrying gunpowder. It is in excellent condition.
