A tiny, boxwood container in the shape of a bell. This would possibly have been made to hold snuff but whatever it was for it would only hold a very small quantity. It has been turned from boxwood and the two parts have a screw fitting. The wood has a beautiful patina and the piece dates from the early 19th century, probably c.1830. The tiny size of this piece would have made it difficult to make. It is in excellent condition.
