A Victorian steel breadknife with a carved wooden handle. The handle is carved, with acorns and oak leaves. This is quite an unusual design and it is deeply carved with good detail. The steel blade is engraved with the words ‘Bread Knife’ and it also bears a manufacturers mark ‘GEORGE BUTLER SHEFFIELD ENGLAND ART’ beneath ‘VR’. The piece dates from c.1870. There is slight pitting to the blade but otherwise it is in very good condition. Dimensions: Length 32cm. Width of blade 3cm Diameter of handle 3cm.
