A Victorian steel breadknife with a carved wooden handle. The handle is carved with a flower. Originally the carving would have been quite deep but it is now very worn. The steel blade is nicely shaped but it is slightly pitted, from use, and this is also worn. This adds to the character of the piece. It dates from c.1860 and has seen a lot of use. The blade is still very sharp.
