A tall, Benham’s copper mould with a cross design to the top. This design is known as the “Alexandra Cross” as it represents the cross from the Danish flag and was made as a commemoration of Prince Edwards marriage to Princess Alexandra of Denmark. This example is stamped with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams and to the opposite side is a workman’s mark in the shape of a radiating sun. It dates from c.1870.
There is a small dent to one of the top corners of the cross and the tinning, to the interior, is slightly worn. Other than this it is in good condition.
