Copper Mould with Lion Top

Copper Mould with Lion Top

Code: Z51006

An early 20th century, copper mould with a lion to the top. This is stamped with “83B” to the reverse, just beneath the shoulder. It is made from quite a light gauge of copper, has rolled seams, and dates from c.1910. Moulds made in this manner often had tin sides and copper tops, and the tin sides were sometimes plated to look like copper, but this example is all copper. The lion is quite well modelled and the fluted sides are moulded with stylised leaves. It is in very good condition but the tinning, to the interior, is very worn.
