A really interesting, Victorian copper mould, engraved with a family crest. The design of this mould is both elaborate and attractive and with the tinning still being in such good condition it is a great mould to use. It is engraved, on the rim, with a family crest of a rampant lion beneath the Latin motto ‘FORTITER ET FIDELITER’. This translates to ‘bravely and faithfully’. It is also engraved with a number ‘5’. The mould is very well made, from a substantial gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1870. It is in excellent condition and, as previously mentioned, the tinning is still in good, usable condition.
