An enormous, 19th century, French copper mould. This is made from a substantial gauge of copper and it dates from c.1870. The design is very simple but the size makes it most impressive. It is marked with a pattern number ’161’ and it is also stamped with the name ‘GIGNON. This would relate to a previous owner. There are two brased lines in the rim and this is from the manufacture of the piece. There is slight pitting and wear to the copper and the tinning, to the interior is very worn.
