Fancy Border, Copper Ring Mould

Fancy Border, Copper Ring Mould

Code: J21818

SOLD

A nineteenth century, copper, fancy border, ring mould. The design of this mould is fairly simple, with narrow, wrythen fluting, but it displays well either on a shelf or hanging. It is marked with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams above a pattern number ‘278’ and a workman’s marks in the shape of a radiating sun. It is also stamped “HODGES & SONS DUBLIN”. It would have been made by Benham’s and sold by Hodges of Dublin. It is made from a heavy gauge of copper and dates from c.1880. There is slight denting but other than that it is in good condition. The tinning, to the interior, is still good enough for it to be used.

Dimensions: Diameter 19.2cm. Height 5cm.
