A 19th century, copper, oval fancy border mould. This is stamped with a pattern number “278” and this has been over stamped on “1/2” which possibly relates to the capasity. It is made from quite a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. The design consists of rounded columns with flat tops which looks like overlapping coins. For this reason the design is known as a “Penny Top”. It is a design which displays well either hanging or on a shelf. There are a couple of dents to the top but otherwise it is in good condition. The tinning, to the interior, is worn.
