A large, and very heavy, copper pipe mould. This piece is unmarked and it dates from c.1880. The design has two wrythen, fluted tiers above a plain base. It is made from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper, and there is a slightly planished finish to the copper. It is in excellent condition and the tinning, to the interior, is still very good, so the mould could be used. Pipe moulds were often used for baking. They are very practical as the pudding or cake cooks from the inside as well as the outside so the middle doesn’t end up stodgy.
