A superb, large, two part copper mould in the shape of a chicken. This would have been used for moulding nougat or chocolate. It is very well made, from quite a substantial gauge of copper, and it is English, dating from c.1880. It is marked with a number ’72’ to one side, which could be a pattern number. The two parts lock together by means of a rim, on one side, which holds the other part and there are three small brass pins which locate through hinges. The chicken is well moulded with exceptionally good detail, and it is in excellent condition. The tinning, to the interior, is now quite dark. This is a rare mould and it is quite charming.
