Large, Copper, Fancy Border Mould

Large, Copper, Fancy Border Mould

Code: H21077

SOLD

A Victorian copper, fancy border mould. This is unmarked but it is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. It is engraved with “A.P” which would be the initials of a previous owner. The design is very simple, consisting of twenty eight plain columns. This type of mould was known as a fancy border mould as it was often used for making a surround which would then have a filled centre. They were used for both savoury and sweet dishes. It is in excellent condition but the tinning, to the interior, is badly worn so it could not be used without re-tinning.

Dimensions: Diameter 19.5cm. Height 6.3cm.
