An unusual 19th century copper mould with a Maltese cross design to the top. Originally this cross was associated with the Knights Hospitaller and by extension with the island of Malta. It has since been used by many other organisations mostly religious or military. The mould is marked with the letters “Q Q” but there are no manufacturers marks. It is made from quite a light gauge of copper, it is English and it dates from c.1890. There is slight denting to some of the high points and there is also slight marking to the copper but there are no holes, splits or repairs.
