A rare, 19th century, almost square, English copper mould. This design, with ever decreasing tiers of miniature domes, resembles an Aztec temple. It is a design which we have never seen before an it is quite charming. The mould is marked “JONES BROS DOWN ST. W.” in a circle and it dates from c.1880. It is also stamped with a pattern number “568”. To the opposite side is a workman’s mark in the shape of a heart and this is one of the marks also used by Benhams. The mould is in excellent condition and the tinning is still in very good, bright, usable condition.
