Victorian copper ice cream mould

Victorian copper ice cream mould

Code: G20152

SOLD

A nineteenth century, copper, ice cream bombe mould and cover. This is unmarked but it is English and it dates from c.1880. The mould was lined with ice cream and then filled with a fruit or chocolate sauce. This was then topped with ice cream and the whole was frozen. When turned out, and cut into, the sauce poured out, thus creating an explosion, hence the term ‘bombe’ mould. The detachable, brass foot allows air into the mould which aids the removal of the ice cream.

It is in excellent condition and the tinning to the interior is still in very good, bright, usable condition.

Dimensions: Diameter 12.4cm. Height 14.5cm.
