An early 19th century, pearlware child’s plate transfer printed, and enamel decorated, with a central scene of Adam and Eve. This is actually titled “Eve. Adam”, as Eve stands to the left of the tree.
The border is moulded with flowers and foliage and this is highlighted with pink lustre. The reverse is impressed with a crown and this is one of the marks used by James and Ralph Clews. It dates from c.1820.
