An interesting, early 19th century, pearlware jug decorated with a cartoon of Napoleon. This is decorated in overglaze, coloured enamels and silver lustre. To one side is “BONEYS return from RUSSIA to PARIS” and to the other side is “COSSACK MODE of ATTACK”. Unfortunately the enamels to both sides are badly word. The jug dates from c.1820. There is silver lustre banding to the rim and within this is a small area of restoration which is difficult to detect.
