A nice quality, pink resist lustre jug. This is English and dates from c.1820. It is potted in pearlware and decorated with stylised flowers, and fruits, in pink resist lustre. The decoration was painted on to the pot with oils and then dipped into a pink lustre glaze. The oil resisted the glaze, hence the term “resist lustre”, and the design then showed through in the colour of the pot beneath. This is a lovely example, with fine decoration. There is a chip to the end of the spout but other than that it is in good condition.
