A 19th century, Sunderland lustre frog mug. This piece is transfer printed with ‘A WEST VIEW OF THE NEW BRIDGE SUNDERLAND’ to one side and a verse to the other. The transfer print is then coloured in green, yellow and red enamels and surrounded with pink lustre bands. This particular verse was used by the Southwick, or Scott’s Pottery, and the mug dates from c.1820. To the interior is a frog which is covered in a pink lustre glaze. There is a chip to the underside of the foot rim but otherwise it is in very good condition.
