A ceramic disk to aid when heating milk, cocoa or soups. This is printed, in green “Pat. No 28248/24 MILK, COCOA & SOUP BOILER THIS SIDE UP MADE IN ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1920. It would have been placed in the base of a saucepan when heating the liquid to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning. Due to the nature of its’ use it is likely that very few have survived. There is a firing crack across the green print and a small glaze chip which has resulted in a small stain.
