Code: J21703

SOLD

A superb coloured, early 19th century marble mortar with a double ended wooden pestle. This mortar is basically a grey colour but with veining in hues of browns and pink. The pestle is turned from walnut and is very nicely shaped. It dates from c.1820. The mortar has very minor chipping to the rim, and there is a small chip of about 1cm. in diameter that has been out and stuck back. The pestle has splitting to both ends so it would not be the best for use. However, it is a beautiful and decorative piece.

Dimensions: Mortar:  Height 16.2cm. Width 28cm. Pestle: Length 26cm. Diameter 6.6cm.
