An enormous, 18th century, double ended, boxwood pestle. This is just a fabulous piece of wood and it dates from c.1760. It is exceptionally heavy and the wood has a beautiful, rich, golden patina. There is extensive cracking to the wood, where it has dried out over the centuries, but this adds character to the piece. On one end there is some cracking which looks as though a piece may have been broken out and restored. If so, it has been well done.
