A small, 19th century, pale grey marble mortar with a wooden pestle. The mortar is a traditional shape, with four lobes, and the marble has a fine grain. It measures 22.5cm. across by 10cm. high. The pestle is turned from beechwood and is 20cm. long by 4.6cm. diameter.

There is a very small chip to one of the lobes of the mortar but otherwise, both pieces are in very good condition.

Southern French or Northern Italian. Date c.1880.
