Dimensions:
A wooden mould for making a hand raised pie. This is turned from beechwood and it dates from c.1880. The mould would be placed onto the centre of a circle of pastry which was then raised up around the side of the mould. The mould would then be removed, the pastry case filled with meat, a pastry lid placed on and the rim crimped together. This mould is good condition, but there are a number of small, circular marks in the wood which can be seen in one of the images. The wood has a lovely, honey coloured patina.
