A large, pewter ice cream mould beautifully modelled in the shape of a basket of flowers. Originally this would have been fully three dimensional, with the second side being the same as the first, but at some point in its’ life one part must have been lost and someone has thought enough of the mould to make a flat back for it. The mould is marked “LG” in the casting. This is the mark of the French company Letang and it dates from c.1870. The moulding of the design is exceptionally well detailed and with the new back the mould could still be used.
