A large, pewter ice cream mould in the shape of a pineapple. This has three parts which are held together by pinned hinges. Originally it would also have had a base but, unfortunately, the base is now missing. This would not prevent the mould from being used and it does produce a wonderful, naturalistic, and lifesize form. Each of the three parts is marked, in the casting, with “L.G” at the top and “1784” at the base. L.G. is the mark of the French company Letang and 1784 would be the pattern number. It dates from c.1880 and is in excellent condition. The interior is still in very good, bright, usable condition and the exterior has quite a pale patina.
