Large pewter pineapple mould

A large, pewter ice cream mould in the shape of a pineapple. This mould is made in five sections. The four sides fit together with hinges which are pinned. Each of these sections is marked, in the casting, ‘CC’. This is the mark of the French company Cadot. It dates from c.1870. The brass pins, which hold the mould together, are replacements. The base is also a replacement which has been made to fit the mould so that it can be used if required. The original base would probably have been made from tin but the replacement is copper. In order to use it this would need to be tinned. The interior of the mould is very well detailed and it is still in good, usable condition. The exterior of the mould has a dark patina and the piece is in good condition.
