A charming, Sunderland blue glass rolling pin. This is painted with sailing ships and the motto 'A Gift of Love'. The painting is still in remarkably good condition. As these were cold painted, the painting has a tendency to wear quite easily, especially if the rolling pins were used. They were designed for use and were filled with cold water, which made it easier to roll the pastry. They would often hang on a wall and only be used for rolling the pastry for special occasions. This one has obviously seen little use. It dates from c.1840 and is in excellent condition.
