A very unusual Victorian glass, decalcomania decorated, rolling pin. Transfer prints are applied to the inside of the rolling pin and this example has then been coated with a gold paint. What makes this rolling pin particularly unusual is the subjects of the transfers. They show two horse drawn fire engines racing to a house which is on fire. There is part of a fireman on the roof of the house. This is a mistake, where whoever was applying the prints to the inside has slipped and hasn’t been able to remove the print that went astray. The rolling pin is in excellent condition.
