A late nineteenth century, Wedgwood, three colour jasperware biscuit barrel.  This is marked “WEDGWOOD ETRURIA ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1895. The white jasper body is covered in a yellow dip glaze and this is then decorated, in black relief, with four of the Muses standing beneath lion’s head masks from which hang garlands of grapes and vines. The nicely shaped handle, mount and cover, which have an Arts Nouveau influence, are silver plated. There is one small chip to the foot and a few other very tiny chips also to the foot. These can be seem in the images. Other than that it is in good condition.

Dimensions: Height of barrel 15cm. Height to top of handle 23.5cm. Diameter at base 14.3cm.
