A large, 19th century spuddle. These were used, in conjunction with a sorbetiere, for making ice cream. This example is made from brass and has a long wooden handle. The brass has been tinned for use and the tinning still remains in good condition. A small, brass hook has been added, in the end of the handle, so that it can hang when not in use. It dates from c.1880 and is in very good condition.
