A nineteenth century, steel bubble and squeak chopper with a turned oak handle. Bubble and squeak is the name given to a dish that consisted of left over vegetables which were thrown into a frying pan and cooked together and this shape of chopper was made so that you could cut the vegetables over the edge of the frying pan. This example dates from c.1860 and it has seen considerable use. The handle has been too close to the fire as it is showing burn marks. Other than this the piece is in good condition.
