19th Century Copper Sieve

19th Century Copper Sieve

Code: J21628

SOLD

A nineteenth century, French copper sieve or colander. This is made from quite a substantial gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It has a wired rim and a large, brass ring is attached so that it can hang when not in use. It is pierced with varying sized, circular holes which form a geometric pattern. Originally it was tinned all over but the tinning has been removed from the exterior to reveal the copper and the tinning to the interior has virtually worn away. There are a couple of small dents to the rim but otherwise it is in good condition.

Dimensions: Diameter 30.2cm. Depth 8.5cm.
