Copper Ice Cream Bombe Mould

Copper Ice Cream Bombe Mould

Code: G20311

SOLD

A 19th century, copper ice cream bombe mould. This is English and it dates from c.1880. It would be lined with ice cream and then filled with a fruit or chocolate sauce. This was then topped with ice cream and the whole was frozen. When turned out, and cut into, the sauce poured out, creating an explosion, hence the term ‘bombe’ mould. The detachable, brass foot allows air into the mould which aids the removal of the ice cream.

It is in very good condition and the interior is still in good, usable condition.

Dimensions: Height 14.7cm. Diameter 12.2cm.
