An unusual, 19th century, steel herb or vegetable chopper. The handle is made from cast steel and blade is wrought. The handle is stamped with the wording “MY WORD IF YOU ARE NOT OFF I WILL” and the name “MRS STELFOX BARR HILL PENDLETON”. The Pendleton Estate was in Salford, Manchester. The piece dates from c.1860.
It is in excellent condition.
