A mid sized, 19th century, English copper mould. This is stamped with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams above the pattern number “419’. To the opposite side is a workman’s mark in the shape of a heart. The design consists of six columns with with small, domed tops and angular sides. The mould is made from a substantial gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It is in very good condition but the tinning, to the interior, is worn.
