Rare Copper Pie Mould

Rare Copper Pie Mould

Code: J22529

SOLD

A rare, 19th century, two part copper pie mould, moulded with the name “LINCK”. Originally, when I purchased this, I thought that it was probably made as an advertising mould displaying the name of a pie making company. However, I have done a little research and haven’t come up with any companies in the 19th century that would fit the bill. Linck is a very old surname which occurs in old English charters going back as far as 972 AD. In the 17th and 18th centuries many Lincks migrated to the U.S.A and Canada and there are now more people with the surname in the U.S.A than anywhere else in the world. I would love to know more of the history of this mould but I think that it would take many hours of research. The mould is made from a heavy gauge of copper. It is probably English and dates from c.1860. The name “LINCK" is deeply moulded between rope twist borders.Unfortunately one of the hinges, from one side is now missing so the mould cannot be held together properly. Other than that the mould is in very good condition and the tinning is still quite good.

Dimensions: Length 16.5cm. Width 15cm. Height 11.8cm.
