The Duke of Wellington's mould

The Duke of Wellington's mould

Code: G20008

SOLD

A super quality, early Victorian copper mould with six square columns. This is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1840. The rim is engraved with the initial ‘W’ under a crown. This is the crest of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington, who died in 1852. To the opposite side it is stamped with the number ’393’ which would be a pattern number. There is slight denting to the tops of the columns but other than that it is in very good condition. The tinning, to the interior, is still in usable condition.
