Cast Iron and Brass Crimping Iron

Cast Iron and Brass Crimping Iron

A nineteenth century, cast iron and brass crimping iron. This type of iron was used for crimping detachable collars and cuffs. They would be washed and starched before running through the iron to put in the tiny pleats. Heated cast iron rods would have been put into the ends of the brass crimpers in order to heat them. This is an attractive example and it is in very good condition.
