1840's French Copper Casserole

1840's French Copper Casserole

Code: K22934

SOLD

A French copper casserole with a side handle. This shape of pan is quite unusual and they are ideal for use on the hob but, due to the fairly short, steel handles can easily be transferred into most ovens. This example is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. The steel handles are quite primitive in style and it was possibly blacksmith made. It dates from c.1840 and is in very good condition. There is just some pitting to the handles, from age and use. The interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.

Dimensions: Length of pan 25.8cm. Width of pan 14.2cm. Depth of pan 13.6cm. Overall length of pan and handle 36.7cm.
