An eighteenth century, double handled, steel herb of vegetable chopper. This is French and dates from c.1780. The steel blade, which is an interesting, decorative shape, is hand forged and the handles are turned from a fruitwood, possible chestnut. There is much pitting to the steel blade, consistent with age and use, and both of the wooden handles have quite large splits. All of this can be seen in the images and does not affect the beauty and immense character of the piece.
Dimensions: Length 26.5cm. Height 21.5cm. Diameter of handles 3cm.
