Heavy steel meat cleaver

A 19th century, steel meat cleaver. Although fairly simple is style and design, this piece is very well made and practical. It is very heavy, cast in steel, and it has a brass handle which is attached by large copper rivets. It dates from c.1860 and is in good, usable condition. There is very slight pitting to the steel, from use.
