A good quality, nineteenth century steel ice or sugar cleaver in the shape of a horse. This piece is well shaped, as a carthorse, and there is texturing to the steel to resemble the horses hair. The eye is formed with a copper rivet. The handle is made from a combination of fibre block, brass and copper and the cleaver dates from c.1890. There is very slight pitting to the steel, from use, but other than that the piece is in very good condition.
