A nineteenth century, carved wooden sugar mould. This is probably carved from chestnut but the wood is quite dark and the grain is difficult to make out. It dates from c.1840. It is extremely well carved, with flowers and foliage. The carving is very deep and very well detailed. A fine copper eye has been added to the back of the piece so that it can be hung. There are a few small woodworm holes in the mould, which have been treated, but other than that it is in very good condition.
