A 19th century, beechwood butter print carved with an acorn. This piece is carved with an acorn and two leaves. Although they should really be oak leaves they are stylised beyond recognition. Obviously a lot of artistic licence was used here. The carving is quite deep and the wood has an attractive, pale patina. The print dates from c.1880. The print and handle are carved as two separate pieces and there is a carved screw thread to join them. It is in excellent condition.
