A fine quality, 19th century, beechwood butter print carved with a bird. This piece is well carved with a bird in the grass. The carving is deep and well detailed and this is quite an unusual design to find on a butter print. The wood has a rich patina and the piece dates from c.1860. The print and handle are carved from a single piece of wood. There are two fine cracks to the rim but they do not go right through, and they have not opened up, so the piece is in excellent condition.
