An early, carved sycamore butter worker. These were used, in the butter making process, for working the salt into the butter and the water out. This has a wonderfully warped shape, from use, and it dates from c.1840. The wood has an interesting grain and a lovely patina. There is a little staining to the wood, again from use, but otherwise it is in very good condition.
