A fabulous coloured, early nineteenth century marble mortar with a double ended, boxwood pestle. This mortar is carved from a beautiful salmon coloured marble, which probably originates from Italy, and the pestle is turned from boxwood. It dates from c.1820. The mortar is in excellent condition but there are cracks in both ends of the pestle. It has a lovely, honey coloured patina.

The mortar measures 28.7cm across by 15.5cm high and the pestle is 23.6cm. long by 4.8cm diameter.
