A nineteenth century, cast iron and brass box iron. This piece is quite interesting with the brass fittings as this makes it much more decorative than usual. It doesn’t have any manufacturers marks but it dates from c.1880. The handle is turned from oak. The iron is in excellent condition. Unfortunately it no longer has its brick to go into the fire, so it could not be used, but I don’t know many people who would still want to use this type of iron.
